(7pm, Monday 31 December 2012, Royal Botanic Gardens)
Thank you, Lauren [Brant], and hello rock stars! I'd like firstly to acknowledge the Gadigal people of the Eora nation, the traditional custodians of our land, and to pay my respects to their Elders. I also acknowledge the people of 200 nations who live in our city.
We've also got a special guest here tonight - Adam Kellerman, Australia's Paralympic tennis champion. Welcome, Adam.
I think even Kylie Minogue must be impressed by the number of stars here tonight!
What a fantastic way to bring 2012 to an end and to welcome in 2013.
I can see that you've all been to the Razzle Dazzle Tent and I hope you've all had a go at guessing the right number of stars in the Guessarama Tent because that gives you the chance to win that fabulous quilt on display there. That was generously donated by the Hunters Hill Quilters and I think we owe them a round of applause. It's a really beautiful piece of work.
There is plenty more fun to be had, whether in the Starmaker Tent, the Colour Blast tent and the Rockin' Room, so I wish you all a really happy and enjoyable evening.
Big thanks too, to our volunteer Guides and Rovers and to the Kings Cross Bikers who are looking after security tonight.
I also thank all our partners, especially the Royal Botanic Gardens and Domain Trust, and all our generous sponsors.
Finally, I thank all of you for coming tonight, and I'll know you'll love the fireworks at 9pm.
I wish all of you, and your families, a very happy New Year.
And now, as a special treat, I'll ask our 2012 Sydney New Year's Eve Creative Ambassador, Kylie Minogue, to come to the stage.
