Council has withdrawn its proposal to convert an industrial site at 115-151 Dunning Avenue, Rosebery, into a depot servicing the southern parts of the City.
The Planning Development and Transport Committee considered the proposal at its meeting on 28 November and heard from residents concerned about potential noise, traffic and parking impacts.
I was concerned these issues had not been adequately addressed, and at the Council meeting on 5 December recommended the proposal be withdrawn.
Council supported my recommendation which also asked the CEO to review Council's depot strategy and report back to Council with a revised strategy that will enable effective and efficient service delivery.
Council needs a place to store, clean and service its fleet of waste trucks. If we proceed with the use of 115-151 Dunning Avenue, I want be assured the City has explored every alternative.
We will keep Rosebery residents updated on future plans for 115-151 Dunning Avenue.
