Did you know you can safely dispose of any leftover chemicals you have at home - including paints, solvents, pesticides and even cleaning products - at the City's Chemical Drop Off Day this Saturday?
These chemicals should not be put in your household bins as they could be hazardous.
From 9am to 3.30pm this Saturday bring your unwanted paints, aerosols, poisons, solvents and chemicals to the Sydney Park Depot, Barwon Park Road, St Peters.
Only household quantities are accepted. Please make sure you transport your items carefully and stay in your vehicle at the drop-off site - an attendant will come to you.
Many chemicals collected on the day are recycled. Others need to be disposed of correctly and safely if sent to landfill because toxic elements such as mercury, cadmium and lead could leach into the environment.
Remember - household batteries, mobiles and light bulbs can be recycled at the City's Neighbourhood Service Centres or libraries any time. And computers, mobile phones, cameras and other electronic goods can be recycled at one of our e-waste drop off days.
