Nominations and voting for the City of Sydney's Annual Business Awards open today.
The City of Sydney provides millions of dollars of support to local small and medium sized business each year - and the City's Business Awards are an annual highlight. The Awards provide vital support to our 18,000 small to medium businesses, which contribute more than $40 million to the economy every year.
Participation in the City of Sydney Business Awards has more than doubled in the past five years, with 640 nominations and 67,000 votes from the public in last year's competition.
The City's Awards are a fantastic opportunity for Sydney's small businesses, from Redfern to Rushcutters Bay, to raise their profile, expand their networks and showcase their talents and services.
I was joined at the launch this morning by guest speaker Ron Allum, a Sydney engineer who designed the submersible that took Titanic and Avatar director James Cameron to his recent world record breaking descent to the depths of the Western Pacific.
Ron typifies the creativity and trailblazing approach that these Awards celebrate.
Business owners getting involved can follow in the footsteps of our previous finalists and award winners who have used the awards to springboard to even greater success, expanding into new markets both at home and overseas.
If there's a business in your area which is doing some great work, don't forget that you can vote for them in this year's Awards. All voters go into the draw to win $1,500
