Connecting our bike lanes with Bondi

Just to our east, Waverley Council is planning a separated path to connect Bondi Junction with existing cycleways. This will improve safety and ease of travel for bike commuters coming into and out of the City.

I think a separated cycleway in this area is a great idea. Transport for NSW's report "Sydney's Cycling Future" identified the Bondi Junction to CBD corridor as a priority route for development. The proposed new route will connect the cycleway that's currently being built along Centennial Park with Spring, Denison and Oxford streets.

The project forms part of Waverley Council's Bike Plan. The Council developed the plan to markedly increase bike usage for recreation, commuting and short trips and get more cars off the road.

The proposal is now on public exhibition for feedback and comments which will be presented to Council in December. A final design will then be prepared and presented and construction is expected to start in July 2015.

Waverley Council has established an online community engagement website to allow you to contribute views and opinions about key issues.
