Council has unanimously agreed to support the International Alliance to End Homelessness, a partnership focussed on sharing policy, practice and research on the prevention of homelessness. This global commitment is consistent with our commitment to ending chronic homelessness in the inner city.
My Lord Mayoral Minute about the Alliance also welcomed the recent announcement to fund housing for 70 people currently sleeping rough in Woolloomooloo by the NSW Minister for Family and Community Services.
I am pleased with the ongoing success of the Woolloomooloo Integrated Services Hub which now attracts over 20 services. The most recent Hub provided more than 82 services which includes help with housing applications, applying for benefits, optometrist checks etc.
The City will also encourage other capital cities to support the alliance through the Council of Capital City Lord Mayors.
