The Scottish Hospital site is critically important to densely populated Paddington, providing open space, remnant rainforest, historic gardens and heritage vistas.
In December last year Presbyterian Aged Care exhibited development proposals for 100 aged care beds on the site. Proposals were recently amended and resubmitted and residents believe the latest proposal will still result in overdevelopment, loss of tree canopy and loss of views.
While there is community support for aged care in this location, the development needs to be sensitive to the heritage Paddington streetscape and the historic site.
I have written to the new Minister to inform him of residents' concerns and asked that he support their call for the proposal to go to a full hearing with the Planning Assessment Commission.
I encourage residents to view plans and make a submission to the Minister.
