Projects supporting bike use, community gardens and new public art were among the initiatives unanimously supported by Council's Cultural and Community Services Committee on Monday.
The Committee considered 14 projects, which were recommended for total funding of over $48,000 under the City's Local Action Plans Matching Grants Program. The Program supports locally based community projects matching City resources with community contributions, which may include cash, donated goods or services, or volunteer hours.
The projects endorsed by the Committee include:
- Six bike related projects, including a Community Bike Toolshed in Erskineville and initiatives that support commuter and recreational cycling
- Three community gardens related projects, including a project encouraging composting
- "Lights Up" Caroline, a public art project in Caroline Street, Redfern.
Council will make its decision on the projects on Monday night.
