Every summer Sydney Festival transforms our city with a bold cultural celebration bringing together high quality art and big ideas.
The City of Sydney is a principle supporter of the Festival and this year we've brought back the popular Lawn Library, right in heart of the Festival Village. It's the perfect spot to sit back, relax and catch up on your reading or just take some time out from the buzz of the Festival.
The Lawn Library will house hundreds of books in Hyde Park until 25 January and is open Tuesday to Sunday from 11am-11pm.
Alongside the wide range of books for visitors to read and exchange, the Library offers creative workshops and story times for kids and a perfect space for adults to unwind after dark. This year's program includes more than 100 events, many of which are free. Performances will reimagine indoor and outdoor spaces all over Sydney, bringing in the best artists, musicians and performers from across the world.
The City invests more than $34 million annually in Sydney's cultural life, including grants and sponsorships to more than 100 cultural and community groups.
This year's Sydney Festival program offers diverse cultural experiences which again highlight Sydney's place as one of the world's leading creative cities.
I hope to see you at one of the amazing performances, exhibitions, workshops or concerts.
