(The Sound of Kubrick, 8pm, Saturday 26 January 2013, The Domain)
Hello, and welcome to our final concert for the Festival of Sydney - Symphony in the Domain, and I hope you have enjoyed the Festival.
On this Australia Day, I would especially like to acknowledge the traditional custodians of our land the Gadigal people of the Eora nation - custodians for over 60,000 years before the coming of the Europeans. I also acknowledge the people of 200 nationalities who live in our city.
In tonight's concert we'll hear Rossini, Beethoven, Elgar, Bach and Shostakovich, among others all chosen by Stanley Kubrick one of the 20th century's greatest film-makers.
Please give a very warm Sydney welcome to our conductor this evening, Andre de Ridder, and of course to our own fabulous Sydney Symphony Orchestra.
Have a great night, everyone!
