Once again Mardi Gras proved to be a great night for Sydney. Despite days of wet weather beforehand, there was no rain on our parade.
Thank you to all the friends and supporters who marched with Sydney MP Alex Greenwich and I. Mardi Gras has come a long way since its beginning in 1978, and representing our community which not only embraces, but celebrates, diversity is inspiring.
By all accounts the event was safe and well managed. It is great to see that those who stayed out late on Saturday night kept the positive, safe atmosphere of Mardi Gras going.
The work of the Surry Hills Police to prevent a repeat of last year's heavy handed tactics was a positive step.
I hope you had a wonderful evening, and a great Mardi Gras Festival.
