Sydney's diversity means we have some of the best Asian cuisine of any city in the world.
The City of Sydney's Asia On Your Doorstep festival, which opened this week and runs throughout October, celebrates the best food Haymarket has to offer.
More than 70 restaurants across Chinatown, Thaitown and Koreatown have created special dishes for you to try during the festival. They'll be cooking demonstrations by Masterchef winner Adam Liaw at Market City. And for one night only Little Hay Street will be transformed into Little Eat Street - with a Friday night food market on 26 October.
Asia On Your Doorstep is part of the Sydney Good Food Month, and is a great reason to visit Haymarket.
The City has invested in making Chinatown a welcoming destination. We've upgraded Kimber Lane, Little Hay Street and Factory Street with new public art, paving, street furniture and lighting.
Next year the City will begin the second stage of our Chinatown Public Domain Plan, including creating a gateway of dramatic circular shade sculptures suspended above Thomas Street, with a 'moongate' of splashed bronze in the pavement, iconic 'scholar' rocks and unique stone seating.
Award-winning artist Lindy Lee will provide unique public art and visitors will benefit from a green canopy of newly planted trees, widened footpaths and new street lights.
