Cabling in Surry Hills

Ausgrid will soon commence construction of the City East Cable Tunnel from its site on the corner of Riley and Albion streets.

The project will involve excavating tunnels for cables that will link to city substations and provide energy in the CBD. An acoustic shed will be built on the site during normal construction hours and then 24 hour work will take place inside the shed and underground.

While Ausgrid expects minimal noise and vibration impacts from the excavation, it has established a Community Liaison Group to keep residents and businesses involved and to respond to any concerns. My Research Assistant Tammie Nardone is attending meetings and the local Surry Hills community is welcome to also join.

This part of the project is expected to be finished by 2016.
