Over the weekend, Sydney returned Alex Greenwich to state parliament and will remain independent for four more years!
With 42% of the primary vote and 60% on a two-party preferred basis, Alex holds the seat of Sydney by about 10% - a ringing endorsement of his time in office so far.
Alex's election shows Sydney is committed to independent, progressive, corruption free representation. Sydney is an intelligent electorate and from the business votes legislation and the threat of forced amalgamations to the sell-off of historic Millers Point and poor planning of Barangaroo the major parties have let us down. We can see when government representatives are acting in a vindictive manner and when the opposition is not advocating in our best interest.
Alex took over my work in State Parliament, especially action on climate change, protecting local government, strata reform, LGBTI reform and work to deliver more inner city schools.
I know Alex will continue to hold the State Government to account and keep our issues on the political agenda.
Thank you to everyone who volunteered throughout the campaign and a big congratulations to Alex!
