For the next few weeks 'Sydney is Fashion' will be showing off the best of our high-street retail in Paddington, Newtown and Surry Hills.
Now in its third year, Sydney is Fashion brings together Mercedes-Benz Fashion Festival and Vogue Fashion's Night Out. This year we are expanding with three new village-based fashion events: Paddington is Fashion, Newtown is Fashion and Surry Hills is Fashion.
Sydney is Fashion is just one of the ways the City is supporting Australia's fashion and retail industries. The events celebrate our local fashion and creative industries and bringing shoppers, locals, retailers and designers together.
Our best designers, models and creative minds will light up Sydney Town Hall for Mercedes-Benz Fashion Festival Sydney from 21 - 24 August and Vogue Fashion's Night Out on 5 September activates the flagship stores and boutiques of our CBD.
The new village events will bring out the personality and fashion flavour of each village, showcasing everything that Sydney's most charming and fashionable precincts have to offer.
Paddington's mix of high-end boutiques and emerging designers will offer in-store events and special offers as people explore Oxford Street, William Street and Glenmore Road (24-25 August).
Retro and vintage retailers are a hallmark of Newtown, which boasts everything from vintage stores to home-grown designers such as Yoshi Jones. Along with in-store events and special offers, Newtown's Dendy Theatre will be showing fashion-themed films during Sydney is Fashion (22 and 29 August and 5 September).
The independent designers of Surry Hills - Sydney's original home of the rag trade - have a focus on innovative design. Their event will entice visitors with special offers, in-store activations and the vintage feel of well-known Surry Hills markets (31 August and 7 September).
