(6pm 1 May 2102, Customs House Circular Quay)
Thank you, Valerie Khoo and hello, everyone. I would like firstly to acknowledge the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, the traditional custodians of our land, and to pay my respects to their Elders. I also acknowledge the 200 nationalities who make up our city.
I'm pleased to welcome you all the to second of our Let's Talk Business seminars for 2012.
We began these back in 2008 to support the City's small and medium-sized businesses - which are the lifeblood of our City economy, particularly in our City villages.
It's the small and medium businesses which not only provide much-needed services but which help define Sydney's unique character and ethos. Global Sydney's identity is in part created by its local business people.
So we are always keen to support you to develop and grow your businesses.
The Let's Talk Business series each year brings you the best speakers and most experienced operators over a range of topics and areas. This year's program puts special emphasis on the rapidly developing technologies that are challenging your businesses - but which, properly used, can also bring tremendous opportunities.
Innovative businesses are looking to new ways to attract customers and build loyalty and these 2012 seminars will give you the knowledge and confidence to explore this new area.
As always, they also provide a great opportunity for networking.
So once again, welcome to all of you and thanks also to our sponsors, who make it possible:
- our Major Sponsor Google Business Apps
- our Sponsors Regus [rejuss] and SmartCompany and
- our Program Producer, The Events Agency.
I wish you all a productive evening.
