Galleries across Sydney are throwing open their doors for Art Month 2014 throughout March. There are some great exhibitions, tours, talks and galleries to visit, and I encourage you try something new or see something you've not experienced before.
Every March, Art Month celebrates Sydney's vibrant and diverse contemporary art scene by organising more than 200 events across the city, most of which are free. The City is a major sponsor of Art Month, and I was proud to officially open the festival last week.
The events are targeted at all levels of art appreciation and knowledge and include guided talks and walking or riding tours.
This year, Art Month is offering you the chance to explore three of Sydney's exciting art precincts after dark as part of its Art at Night program. Galleries in Chippendale and Redfern (6 March), Paddington and Woollahra (13 March), and Darlinghurst and East Sydney (21 March) will be open from 6-8pm, followed by drinks, music and performance at the official Art Bar.
Budding art collectors unsure where to begin can also meet with experts who can walk through the basics and demystify the art buying process.
