Join me to celebrate the re-opening of Prince Alfred Park on Saturday 30 April. We'll put on entertainment and drinks while the kids can play on our new swings, a see-saw and sandpit.
The renewed park provides lots of open space and spaces to relax for people living around Surry Hills and Redfern. Our $18 million project creates:
- circuits for cycling, walking and jogging;
- new tennis courts;
- two basketball courts and a new half court;
- plenty of open space for games, or just lounging in the sun.
Prince Alfred Park has some impressive sustainability measures—energy efficient lighting, a 250,000 litre stormwater tank and treatment facilities to supply 95 per cent of the park's water and new tree plantings to support biodiversity and add to the park's character.
Work on the pool and surrounding buildings continues, with a reopening planned in time for summer . The stunning new pool building will be temperature-controlled and allow for tri-generation or co-generation energy system to power the park lighting, pool and Coronation Centre.
