Submissions are open until 31 August this year and if you sign-up to my WestConnex email list, I’ll keep you updated as I find out more: https://www.clovermoore.com.au/westconnex,
Congestion already costs our city $6 billion a year – this is set to rise to $14.8 billion by 2031 if public transport isn’t prioritised – so the impacts of this mess of toll roads on our local neighbourhoods and amenity will be disastrous.,
Here at the City, we’ve opposed WestConnex from the beginning – it’s the very opposite of State and City policy, which is to reduce the number of cars coming into the city centre.,
The Inquiry will look at many things – including the business case, cost-benefits ratio, cost and overruns, compulsory acquisition of property for the project, and governance and due process.,
I am hopeful that information revealed as part of this Inquiry will shape the future of this destructive toll road project and minimise its impact on our city – especially in an election year for the Berejiklian Government.,
UPDATE – PARLIAMENTARY INQUIRY INTO THE IMPACTS OF WESTCONNEX:
It wasn't in the news today, but a Parliamentary Inquiry into WestConnex will be conducted by the Legislative Council’s Public Accountability Committee - congratulations @jennyleong who announced the news yesterday.
