It was terrific to help launch one of my favourite events last night, Vogue Fashion Night Out.
The event, supported by the City, included a series of activations throughout the city in Pitt Street Mall, Westfield and David Jones.
This is the fifth time Vogue Fashion Night Out has been held in Sydney and the event has now grown to become a major fixture on the international fashion calendar, held in over 20 global cities.
We are also delighted to support so many City retailers and the Australian fashion industry on a night that attracts more shoppers than the Boxing Day sales.
Sydney is Australia's premier retail destination and home to more than 7,800 retailers, who account for more than a third of about 21,500 businesses in our local government area.
It's a big month for fashion in the City - we are hosting the Mercedes Benz Fashion Festival Sydney at Town Hall and celebrating fashion in the City's villages with a weekend event to draw shoppers offline and back into our wonderful local boutiques.
The City's Retail Advisory Panel has told us that industry-led events supported by government, encourage increased foot traffic in key shopping precincts.
Just another example of the City supporting business!
